Waking up leisurely on a Sunday morning is for me one of the pleasures of life. But this Sunday morning the pleasure was to be short lived. Mr Kannan called to inform me of the passing away of Mr Lakshman, Founder Member of KAMFA and the Founder President of Voice of Mutual Fund Distributors. All those who had the opportunity of interacting with Mr Lakshman, will surely agree with me when I say that, every interaction was a learning experience! He kept surprising us with his erudition and intellectual insights! By accepting the Presidentship of the Voice of Mutual Fund Distributors he brought instant respectability to our fledgling federation. Well know in the higher echelons of the IFA fraternity he was equally at ease discussing the problems and prospects of the MF distribution with a new entrants to the profession. Humble and down to earth he had the magnanimity of acknowledging his mistakes on the few rare occasions he made one and considering a contrarian viewpoint. His vast stint in the corporate world handling finance made his transition to an IFA very smooth and a natural extension. He will be sorely missed by all those who knew him and will be remembered by us for a very long time to come. Our lives have been enriched by his knowledge and wisdom. For his family I have the following message: "Although it''s difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, May looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow" Regards Suresh Nair

I had the privelege of interacting with him personally during the Annual KAMFA convention at Bangalore in September 2013. Never did I realise that he would leave the fraternity so soon. This is indeed shocking news. My deep condolences for the family. A crusader for IFA rights, the IFA fraternity has today lost a great friend and a fighter for their cause. The son of the first IAS officer of independent India, I had the pleasure of interacting with him at the Cochin meet where Voice of MFD(then FOMDAI) was born. My impression of him was of a very simple, very erudite, learned, honest, transparent person, spontaneous in his expressions and above all a very generous human being. He was aptly named the founder president of VMFD but fate had different things in store. May his good work continue. May his soul rest in peace.

he was a mentor to me. last week I spoke to him and planned to meet him next month in bangalore. in fact, i even used to record his views and may have a couple of hours of his views on mutual funds and various issues. Witty, knowledgeable, depth of knowledge and literature, free flowing quotes of shakespeare and other literateurs aptly suiting the situation and with a chuckle and a wit, he was an epitome of a man. Shocking to hear he is no more!
